The play “1978,” directed by Slovenian Tomi Janežič, talks about Romania in the 1970s, a transgenerational docu-fiction based on the personal stories of the actors and the director. It is a story about the years of communism in an apartment in Romania, a story about local and global events that connect Timișoara and Nova Gorica (Slovenia) - on the border with Italy - cities that were part of the same country - the Austro-Hungarian Empire. More than 100 years ago, hundreds of Hungarian soldiers fought on the Isonzo front. “1978” premiered on December 7, 2023, on the occasion of the closing of the Timișoara 2023 Cultural Program, but it is also part of a series of 12 shows specially created by Tomi Janežič for the European Capital of Culture 2025 - Nova Gorica/Gorizia.

The Hungarian Theatre provides transport for spectators to the location (starting from the Military Hospital).
