Exhibition of war photography. FRONT

HEI - House of European Institutes invites you to explore the territories of the war front, starting August 8 at Bastion 1 (Hector 1 str.) through an exhibition of war photography.

FRONT is the name of the exhibition curated by Ioana Cîrlig through Scena9 and produced by Rezidența9 in Bucharest.

This is an exhibition of photographs taken in several countries at war. There are images of destroyed cities, people wounded, crying or "afraid" and in a lot of pain. We want the exhibition to help you better understand how terrible war is.

The photos are by two photographers: Vadim Ghirda and Larisa Kalik.

The opening will take place on August 8, from 19:00 on Hector Street 1, Bastion 1.

The exhibition brings together two extremely brave photographers of the front. A young photographer based in Ukraine, Larisa Kalik, a dissident poet with mad courage, who has been documenting the war on her own, at home on the Ukrainian front, for two years. A Romanian photographer with decades of experience on many of the world's fronts, from Yugoslavia in the 1990s, from Gaza to Ukraine today, Vadim Ghirda. Their photographs allow us to see the reality of contemporary wars, their devastating effects on the lives of people in besieged territories and prompt us to reflect on the state of the world we live in.

The opening will take place in the presence of curator Ioana Cîrlig and Ioana Pelehatăi, coordinating editor Scena9.

Warning: The images in the exhibition explicitly depict the brutality of war and may have a strong emotional impact on viewers. The exhibition is not recommended for young people under 18.

The exhibition offers a series of events that will explore the ethics of war photography, stories and representations of violence in images, connecting local audiences with the Ukrainian community who have settled in Timisoara.
