Expedition to the Satchinez Ornithological Reserve

The next stop of our AQUATIC WORLDS, DREAMS IN THE DESERT program takes place approximately 30 km northwest of Timișoara, at the Satchinez Ornithological Reserve, also known as the Banat Delta.

Established in 1942 at the initiative of ornithologist Dionisie Linția, the reserve is a protected area where around 1,194 hectares of marshes, ponds, peninsulas, and islets serve as a refuge and habitat for 40% of the bird species found in Romania. This includes protected species such as the grey and yellow heron, the great and little egret, the pygmy cormorant, and the avocet, alongside insects, frogs, snakes, acacias, and other plants. This biodiversity we all depend on.

This August, we invite you to take part in an ecological and artistic investigation in this unique place. We aim to bring a critical perspective on environmental issues and the impact of global warming, promoting harmonious coexistence with all non-human beings. You will have the chance to explore these aquatic ecosystems with us and contribute to a collective video installation reflecting our common environmental concerns and anxieties.

We are looking for 10 art professionals, but not only, who are willing to contribute to critical thinking on environmental issues and the impact of global warming, as well as individuals interested in becoming familiar with video art.

If this sounds interesting to you, please apply by filling out this form by July 26, 2024. The final selection will be announced on July 29, 2024!

*The selection will be made by the Indecis artist-run team.
