Extraordinary Public Information Meeting

Join us on Sunday, June 11th, starting 12:30, for an Extraordinary Public Information Meeting at Minitremu (Un)Learning Center & Indecis, located on the 1st floor of 2 Coriolan Brediceanu St., in Timișoara.

This special event is part of the ARTIST RUN TEAM BUILDING programme and brings together artists/coordinators of independent cultural spaces from Brașov, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Sfântu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Târgu Mureș, and Timișoara. The meeting aims to provide each participant with an equal position in the moderated discussion led by the organizers, illustrating the diverse practices of artist-run initiatives in Romania. Together we will try to identify the artist-run initiative: What kind of creature is it? How does it evolve in Romania? (examples from the participating initiatives).

Extraordinary Public Information Meeting is an incredible occasion, as the title implies, to witness Romanian Art History in the making. Leaving this inflated premise aside, we can assure you that it is a good opportunity to learn about this strange creature of the artworld, this chameleon, this shapeshifter of a structure - but not a doppelganger - the artist-run space, which is more like a platypus than anything else. It is a mix of different things that has a little bit of this, a little bit of that and many times understated and overlooked, but has been around more than you might think.

Participating initiatives: Aici Acolo (Cluj-Napoca), artă.nonstop (Sibiu), Balamuc (Timișoara), Baraka (Timișoara), B5 Studio (Tg. Mureș), Cabinet 44 (București), ETAJ artist-run space (București), Indecis (Timișoara), Lapsus (Timișoara), Lateral ArtSpace (Cluj-Napoca), MAGMA Contemporary Art Space (Sf. Gheorghe), MATCA artspace (Cluj-Napoca), Minitremu (Timișoara), NAVA C2 (Timișoara), Raft (Brașov), Tranzit.ro/Iași, White Cuib (Cluj-Napoca)

The event is part of the ARTIST RUN TEAM BUILDING taking place between 07 - 12 June 2023 in Timișoara. The ARTIST RUN TEAM BUILDING project aims to strengthen the independent art scene in Romania and encourage future international collaborations, through a session of private meetings between coordinators of artist-run spaces. Through the public events within the project, the aim is to clarify the status of the artist-run initiative for the interested public.

The event is part of the ARTIST RUN TEAM BUILDING cultural project initiated by Lateral ArtSpace and organized in collaboration with Minitremu and Indecis, in partnership with Aethernativ, Aici Acolo, AIM Network, Art Encounters Foundation, B5 Studio, Candyland, Cluj Cultural Centre, ETAJ artist-run space, MAGMA, MATCA artspace, The Secret Garden Bookshop, Tranzit.ro/Iași, U10.
The project is part of the National Cultural Programme "Timisoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded under the European Echoes programme, implemented by the Center for Projects of the Timișoara Municipality, with sums allocated from the state budget, through the Ministry of Culture budget.
