HEI - House of European Institutes presents on Wednesday, October 23, the British documentary "Call Me Lawand".
 

The film "Call Me Lawand" is part of the HEI - House of European Institutes series of events dedicated to inclusion and accessibility through culture.
 

Synopsis:
 

Lawand is a young Kurdish man, deaf since birth. After an adventurous journey and a year spent in a refugee camp in Dunkirk, with the help of a deaf volunteer, his family arrives in Derby, where Lawand enrols at the Royal School for the Deaf. As he grows up, the movie follows his spectacular progress in learning British Sign Language, revealing an intelligent, charismatic and inquisitive boy who discovers friendship and a new way of expressing himself.

Admission to the screening is free.
 

It is an informal event, no dress code.
 

The organizers kindly ask participants to arrive 15 minutes early so that they have time to choose a seat in the Bastion 1 amphitheatre and, why not, maybe even meet the other participants of the film club!
 

Water and popcorn on the house, participants can bring their own drinks.
 

The project is part of the National Cultural Program "Timisoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded by the Legacy Timisoara 2023 program, run by the Timisoara City of Timisoara Project Center, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture. The project is organized in partnership with the Municipality of Timisoara, through the Timisoara Project Centre.
