JAMzz x D'arc Timisoara

We prepared for you a series of JAMzz nights. Take this as a warm-up for JAZZx 2023. Let's recharge our batteries with good vibes and lots of jazz energy. We JAZZ together!

June 23rd TINA EDWARDS (London, UK)
One of the most curious and respected selectors in the U.K., Tina Edwards joins the dots between jazz and club culture. Whether it’s modern jazz dance floor burners, unearthed and obscure 90s acid jazz, or afro-driven rhythms from across the world, Tina’s sets are as much an introduction to incredible lesser-heard music as much as they are a celebration of the current UK Jazz explosion

June 23rd PALO SANTO DISCOS (Amsterdam, NL)
With an especial penchant for sounds that originate from around the equator, get ready to be seduced by the dulcet tones of Latin groovers, Jazz, Jamaican golden oldies, and of course Brazilian floorfillers.

June 24th ANDREW ASHONG (London, UK)
Andrew Ashong is a British-Ghanaian soul singer-songwriter, DJ, and record producer from Forest Hill in South London. He has released two EPs: Flowers with Theo Parrish (2012) and the Andrew Ashong EP (2014), which moved away from the dance floor sound of Flowers and interjected more soul and jazz inspired rhythms and textures.

 June 24th CALIBRO 45 (Cluj-Napoca, RO)
Member of the AnonimTM organization (Timișoara), and for the past two years, he has formed a unique duo in Romania alongside Dj Dubase from Guerila Outernational. Together with the Urban Art Brigade, he laid the foundations for a music creation studio, collaborating on several projects. He is also known as Leizaboy. He started mixing trip-hop, then transitioned to drum and bass, and later to breakbeat. Over time, he added funk and hip-hop to his sets, mixed with broken beat.

*MAJ (a.k.a. My Analog Journal) is a YouTube channel that curates vinyl-only mixes on a weekly basis. Every mix focuses on a certain genre, country, or region, era, or simply an idea or a theme. It all started with Zag Erlat in late 2017. He found his new passion and desire to create more vinyl-only episodes and share the music he loves with the people of the internet, which eventually turned into an online community.

*Jazz re:freshed is created by Justin McKenzie & Adam Moses as a music movement that started with a humble vision in the early summer of 2003. The movement was built around its weekly live residency in the heart of West London, covering the whole spectrum of jazz and jazz-influenced. Everything that’s fresh about jazz is hopefully reflected in the philosophy and delivery of Jazz re:freshed and its numerous projects – the colour, the creativity, the artistry, the boundless expression.
JAMzz is part of the Timișoara National Cultural Program - European Capital of Culture in 2023 and is funded through the BEGA program, implemented by the Timiș County Center for Culture and Art, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
