The project ”NEO-ARH - Imprints of the neo-Romanian style in the European capital of culture” consists in the preparation and organization of an event with several components in the city of Timisoara, an event intended to draw the attention of the general public on the neo-Romanian architectural style, one of the most outstanding architectural creations of national art and a true symbol of cultural unity. The first component of the NEO-ARH project consists in the preparation and organization of a photo exhibition that will take place in an emblematic neo-Romanian building in Timișoara and will include images of the main neo-Romanian style buildings in the city. The exhibition will be available for visits for a period of 10 days. The second component of the project consists in producing a documentary that includes the historical and artistic overview the most representative neo-Romanian style buildings in Timișoara, interviews with relevant personalities and with the current owners/managers of the buildings. The third component consists in editing a bilingual thematic catalog that will centralize the most important information regarding the presence of the neo-Romanian style in Timișoara. On the occasion of the opening of the photo exhibition, the audience have the possibility to attend the premiere of the documentary film and a debate between specialists in the field of art theory and architecture, the director of the film, cultural personalities at the local and national level, as well as other guests relevant to the subject matter, students, visitors. During the 10 days of the exhibition, free guided tours of the main neo-Romanian style buildings in Timișoara will be organized with the help of a team of volunteers.
The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the Grow Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
