Public reading Audre Lorde

In June, a team of individuals with varied experience in the field translated texts and poems by Audre Lorde—an American author, poet, teacher, and activist.

Advocating for the rights of Black people and the LGBTQIA+ community, she crafted her writings as an attempt to illustrate the experiences and prejudices she faced as a Black lesbian woman and, later, as a mother.

Most of her works are not available in Romanian, but they resonate perfectly with the struggles we face in the current sociopolitical context, continuing to inspire and move us even decades after they were written.
On July 4th, we invite you to an event where the translated texts and poems will be read publicly by the translators. Afterwards, we will watch the documentary Audre Lorde: ”The Berlin Years 1984 to 1992”, which discusses the author's influence on the political and cultural scenes in Germany. The documentary is subtitled in English.
