After a series of activities that promoted the navigability and biodiversity of the Bega Canal in 2023, the Locks on Bega project presents for the first time, at Cinema Victoria, on October 10, from 18:00, a short documentary about the waters that flow through Timișoara and the entire region and about the way man learned to live and use the natural landscape.
The atmosphere on Bega can be understood as an immersive journey that alludes to the evolution of the landscape and the construction of space through movement, whether on water, on the banks or from the air, bringing into focus the emotion conveyed by the linearity and apparent monotony of the landscape, complemented by concrete, smells, variations in weather conditions, sunset light or other stimuli that influence or affect our perception.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the initiators of the project and filmmakers Bogdan Demetrescu, Alexandrina Ciortuz together with their guests.

Locks on the Bega is a multidisciplinary project that aims to recover the cultural connections, ecological corridors and economic relations between Timișoara and the Euroregion by promoting the cultural landscape that starts from the springs of Beghei in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, crosses the Western Plain to beyond the border with Serbia, to the confluence of the Tisa, from the Titel fortress.
Just like last year, the 2024 edition is part of the national cultural program "Timișoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is financed by the Legacy Timișoara 2023 program, run by the Timișoara Project Center with amounts allocated from the state budget, through budget from the Ministry of Culture.
