Josefin, alternatively Iozefin (German Josephstadt, Hungarian Józsefkülváros), is a district in Timișoara, named after Emperor Joseph II, during whose reign it was founded.
The gateway to the Iosefin district is today the bridge to Maria Square. The buildings here were built after 1890 when military interdictions were lifted because it was considered that Timișoara's fortress was no longer of strategic importance. The old Iosefinul stretches from Mocioni Square (formerly Küttel Square, also known as "Sinaia"), where the Orthodox Church, built between 1931 and 1936, stands. Short houses alternate with tall ones, set in a German style, with a rectangular plan and varied colours.
