The Old Town Hall is one of the symbolic buildings of Timișoara, being built between 1731-1734, after the conquest of Timișoara by the Austrians, when the German settlers established in the city asked the authorities for their own town hall. The building housed the local administration until after the Second World War.

From an architectural point of view, the building is built in an eclectic style, with classicist elements typical of the mid-19th century. Today the building houses the Faculty of Music and Theatre of the Western University, which holds its courses here.
