The Real Casino de Madrid is a distinguished social club whose members can enjoy a wide range of cultural and sports activities. Its origins date back to 1836, when a group of young men who were regulars at the Sólito cafeteria (located in front of the Teatro del Príncipe and destroyed years later due to the extension of the Plaza de Santa Ana) decided to formalise their meetings and have a place of their own to meet. The club had different venues until it was finally set up in the current building, which was built for this purpose.
