October again brings a lot of events in Timisoara. The city will be full of activities that will invite locals and visitors to enjoy the diverse offer of exhibitions, theater performances, concerts and other cultural happenings that the city has to offer.
These events are part of the Timisoara Heritage 2023, part of the National Cultural Program "Timisoara - European Capital of Culture 2023".
Since the first part of the month, the public will be able to admire the exhibitions part of the Timisoara Architecture Biennale in various locations. The main exhibition Beta 2024: Cover Me Softly runs from September 13 to October 27 at the Garrison Headquarters in Libertății Square.
In the sphere of visual arts there is also the exhibition The Country of Fire, which will be open from October 18 to February 1, 2025 at Kunsthalle Bega, located at 10 Circumvalațiunii Street.
Another exhibition worth a visit is the photo exhibition Glas: A Symphonic Interpretation of Traditional Bulgarian Music, which will be open to the public from October 20 to November 4 at the Capitol Hall of the Banatul Philharmonic, 2 Constantin Diaconovici Loga Boulevard. This exhibition brings to the forefront images that capture the charm of traditional Bulgarian music and gives visitors the opportunity to explore the culture of this musical heritage.
The Parallel City returns to Elisabetin with a new event, Party in Elisabetin, will take place on October 1-2, 15, 21-22 at the Portal of the Parallel City, 2 Ioan Curea Street. The event promises music and fun-filled moments celebrating the culture and creativity of this neighborhood.
The LA PAS 2024 Festival will take place from October 4-6 at FITT, Arieș 19. Timisoara residents will enjoy three days dedicated to artisan gastronomy, sustainability culture and good, clean and ethical food. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with passionate people from the community, discover amazing dishes and authentic products. There will be workshops for all ages, key debates on sustainability and concerts to liven up the atmosphere.
The 4th edition of the DINAM contemporary dance season will take place from October 6 to October 31, in multiple locations in the city. A new edition returns to Timisoara with a packed program of performances, Q&A sessions with the artists, a dance film screening and workshops.
The performance "My Uncontrollable Body" will take place on October 10, from 18:00, at the Faculty of Automatics and Computers, Vasile Pârvan Street 2. This performance aims to explore the limits of the body and self-perception, while urging viewers to meditate on the interplay between movement, control and artistic expression.
The city is gearing up for 25 hours of non-stop theatre (14th edition), an event dedicated to theatre lovers, which will take place on 12-13 October in various venues.
The Taifas Festival will take place from October 15 to 20, in different locations, with the theme of freedom explored in the context of the Balkan world. Visitors will be able to enjoy movie screenings, poetry, a concert of authentic lute music and delicious Balkan cuisine. The festival also promises a Balkan Disco Party and many other surprises for all ages.
Part of the Taifas Festival is also the concert of Corina Sîrghi with Taraful Jean Americanu, which will take place on October 16, from 19:00, at the Banatul Timisoara Philharmonic, located at 2 CD Loga Boulevard.
Science&Wine brings together science and culture, on October 17, from 19:00, at ARChA, located on Bdul. Mihai Viteazu, nr. 1, UPT.
The International Symposium "Why Culture Matters", 2nd edition will take place from October 17 to 19, from 08:00 to 17:00, at FABER, located at Splaiul Peneș Curcanul 4 - 5. This event brings together cultural specialists and enthusiasts from various fields to explore the importance of culture in contemporary society.
"Levintza - a different kind of Revolution" takes place on October 19, at 19:30, in the Multifunctional Hall of the Timis County Council, and aims to celebrate 35 years since the Romanian Revolution of 1989 in a unique way. The project evokes two emblematic figures: the fashion designer and theater costume designer Doina Levintza, together with the internationally renowned Italian visual artist Piero Marsilli Libelli.
The International Theatre Festival - Sunlight Theatre Performative Dialogues II will take place from October 19-30 in multiple locations. This festival brings together artists from different corners of the world to explore and celebrate theatrical art through performative dialogues.
The following events are part of Timisoara's overall cultural offer.
The Giacomo Puccini Gala will take place on October 3, at 19:00, in Victory Square. This event dedicated to the great Italian composer promises to be a special evening where his music will resound in the heart of the city.
From October 3, the public will be able to admire the exhibition "Secrets Interwoven", which will be open until November 24 at FABER, Splaiul Peneș Curcanul 4-5.
SIMULTAN Festival 2024, happens between October 3 and 6 at MX - "Corneliu Miklosi" Museum, bd. Take Ionescu, nr. 83, continues to explore the relationship between art, technology and society through different artistic methods and practices.
The guest performance of the German State Theatre Timișoara: "Rabbit Hole" will take place on October 6, at 19:00, at CRAFT - Regional Business Center, 22, Eroilor de la Tisa, Bulevardul, 22.
The premiere of "De Bergerac. Fantasme din Cyrano" will take place on October 6, at 19:00, in the Great Hall of the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theatre, Mărășești Street 2.
The show "The Merry Widow" premieres on October 13, starting at 18:00, at the Opera Hall of the Romanian National Opera, Mărășești Street 2.
On October 24, from 18:00, the opening of "Rehearsal for Peace" by Anca Benera and Arnold Estefan will take place. The event takes place at Casa ISHO, located on Bdul. Take Ionescu, 46C, 1st floor.
The month ends with the premiere of the show "VOYEUR", which will take place on October 30, at 19:00, in the Capitol Hall of the Banatul Philharmonic Timișoara.
This month promises to bring a rich offer of cultural events that highlight the creativity and diversity of Timisoara.
