The idea of a festival that highlights the baroque heritage offered by the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the eighteenth century started where, in 2006, when Caius Hera, together with the director of the art museum in the person of Marcel Tolcea, laid the foundations of a series of thematic concerts of early music within the Baroque Palace Timisoara. In 2012 came the idea of setting up the Timișoara Baroque Festival Association, initiated by Marius Gaiță, Pavel Dehelean (director of the Timișoara Cultural House) with the encouragement and support of Timișoara City Hall. At that time, this association had as main objective the organization of baroque events within the Baroque Palace in Unirii Square.

Other places where the association carried out its activity were: the Roman-Catholic Dome, St. Catherine's Church, Piarist Church, Banat State Philharmonic, Romanian Timișoara National Opera, Merlin Theater, Roman-Catholic Church in Balcescu Square, etc. During 2012-2019, the Baroque Festival hosted numerous musical events and not only. Among the most important participants we can mention: Jordi Savall (ESP), Andrew Lawrence King (GB), Rolf Lislevand (DE), Christina Pluhar & Arpeggiata Ensemble (FR), Hopkinson Smith (CH/USA), Anton Birula & Anna Kowalska (PL), Judit Andrejszki & Musica Profana, Overtone Ensemble (PL), Transylvania Baroque Ensemble (CJ), Aliusmodum (IT), Fonte di Gioia (CJ) etc. A very important event in 2012 initiated by Caius Hera was the organization of a baroque ball at the Baroque Palace with Canrios Ensemble and Musica Profana as guests, a show where period costumes and dances specific to the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries were presented. Another unique event in Romania was the Music Days for Lute and Guitar, organized at the Embassy (Timisoara). Caius Hera became president of the association in 2018. He is the only lute player to have a PhD in early music and specialized studies at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland. His extensive knowledge in the field of early music and musical styles of the Renaissance and Baroque currently places him among the most important musicologists and performers in Romania.
