Simona Popescu is a writer and lecturer at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest, where she also teaches creative writing. She is a member of the Brasov Group. She debuted with the poetry volume Xilofonul și alte poeme (with a presentation on the fourth cover by Livius Ciocârlie), followed by Juventus and Noapte sau zi - collected in 2021 in the collection Opera poetică (Editura Rocart). In 2006 she published the poetry volume Lucrări în verde. My plea for poetry. In 2021 The Book of Plants and Animals was published, for which he won several literary prizes for poetry. In 2022, the director Radu Afrim staged a production, Ierbar, inspired by The Book of Plants. She published the novel Exuvii in 1997, now in its 8th edition, translated into several foreign languages. She has been close to Lygia and Gellu Naum and has written two books of critical fiction about the surrealist poet: Saving the Species. On Surrealism and Gellu Naum, 2000; Clava. Criticism with Gellu Naum, 2004. He coordinated the collective novel Rubik's Rubik (2008), with the participation of 29 young writers, most of them students of Letters. In 2016 she published her doctoral thesis (defended in 2002) with the title The Author, a Character. Fragments from her volumes have been included in school textbooks and in several poetry and prose anthologies at home and abroad. She has been invited to numerous national and international literature festivals.
