Kimaera – an interactive digital project aimed to synchronise from cultural point of views city of Arad and Timișoara on the year of European Capital of Culture 2023
The Kimaera project was initiated by Kinema Ikon, which is the longest-running multimedia artistic group in Romania. The project develops in the context of the Timisoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture program, an interactive digital meta-installation with multiple authors. Each work/module will be functional, as a part and as a whole. The installation combines old media with digital media, public city space with IoT (Internet of Things), AR (Augmented Reality), 3D printing, AI-generated sound and image, mobile apps, NFT, etc., coordinated by a central computer, each one of the 10 modules having an input and an output that allows the works to interact with each other.
The extensive program of Kimaera contains activities related to the research and production of the installation’s modules, the development of a mobile application that will generate the extension in the digital environment of the physical components located in the Kinema Ikon space of the Arad Museum Complex and the remote interaction with them.
The exhibition is an experimental hybrid format of kimaera avatars in the new Kinema Ikon multimedia space in the Arad Art Museum.
The organisation of the anniversary edition of MAFA - Media Art Festival Arad and development of a program of events related to the exhibitions through a cultural mediation program extended throughout in 2023, the project’s itinerancy in other cities in the country and abroad and the creation of a publication will be put into practice for the year 2023.
