Alexandra Gîrbea proposes to carry out within the Energy Exchange! a research in collaboration with the local composer Uțu Pascu. It is a continuation of the collaboration between the two in the last two years and a step for a future collaborative production planned for 2025. In 2023, the two created, within the Symbioze project of the Noi Re-Creăm Association, the show A Matter of Time , presented in a specific format and to a group of deaf people through the implementation of a Sub.Pac sound technology solution. In the show, they investigated technological ways to create sound through dance, and as a result of the project I purchased a SOMA synthesizer that produces sound by skin contact with an electronic circuit (https://somasynths.com/enner/).
Working on the improvisational performance About the incredible permeability of the body, at the Water Museum, Alexandra Gîrbea planned a direction for the development of collaboration by expanding the electronic circuit of the instrument in space, using various materials with electrical conductivity (copper strips, metal wires, salt water ). Through the contact of the dancing body with these materials, the space will become a sound one, and the dance will translate directly into music. As part of the creative scholarship, Alexandra Gîrbea will research, in collaboration with Uțu Pascu, these methods of producing music through dance, but also how dance methodologies are altered by this intention. The research will form the basis of a new production for 2025, in which a playwright, a lighting designer and another dancer will be added to the original team.
Regarding compositional research, Alexandra Gîrbea will study a series of specialized works on contemporary dance choreography and dramaturgy (A Choreographer's Handbook by Jonathan Burrows, A Director's Prepares by Anne Bogart, Composer en Danse by Yvanne Chapuis, Myriam Gourfink and Julie Perrin and And then it got legs by Jeroen Peeters), applying multiple compositional methods to the movement materials from the first stage of research to diversify his choreographic creation methodology with new, current practices. All these attempts will be filmed, analyzed and filtered to outline a specific choreographic practice for this type of performance.
