Artă-mă #2 | Flowers, Girls or Boys: Diana Vlasa

On Thursday, October 12, we invite you to an informal meeting with Diana Vlasa - illustrator, laureate of the Töpffer Prize for Comics, and one of the 40,000 young people who went to study in another country, according to Unesco data.

We know Diana from the period of her graphics studies at the Art High School in Târgu Mureș, when her first concerns that combined literature and drawing came to life. Years later, we were delighted to hear that he had the opportunity to graduate from the Haute école d'art et de design (HEAD) – Geneva, Switzerland, training in design and communication, image and narrative. Diana's preferred working mediums are illustration, comics and 2D animation. He works in digital and traditional techniques, constantly researching how these mediums become complementary. Her personal projects address social themes such as identity and social relationships, being particularly interested in the intimacy of human interactions.

She is the second Laureate at the Young Talents 2022 Contest of the Angoulême International Comic Strip Festival for the "Sifonata" project. He is also awarded the second Caran d'Ache 2022 prize for the undergraduate project "Flowers, girls or boys", which gives him the opportunity for a residency and exhibitions from May to June 2023 in the new museum premises in Lausanne. For the same project, he won the Töpffer Prize for Young Comics 2022.

Last but not least, Diana Vlasa is the author of this year's Minitremu and Casa Jakab Toffler visual concept.

If you are interested in Diana's experience, we are waiting for you on Thursday from 18:00 at Minitremu (un)Learning Center, to discuss school, academic, artistic and life topics.

“Artă - mă. Reintroduction in art education" proposes a framework for work and collaboration between contemporary artists and educators, as well as between various institutions and independent cultural platforms, on the topic of art education and through art. It brings together an interdisciplinary mix of concerns and experiences, of different voices and visions, in an attempt to lay down the premises of current and relevant pedagogies for our times.

It is a program that initiates a wider research on artistic educational contents, out of the desire to offer the Romanian pedagogical world contemporary landmarks, while promoting solidarity and joint action between artists, educators, pupils and students.

*The title of the project refers to the work of the duo Monotremu "Arta-mă", exhibited in 2012 within the project "Protest in the wind" - Chiosc / Apartment Deschis, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
