Yane Calovski and Hristina Ivanoska: IF A STORY IS PRESENT: An Attempt to Decentralize Knowledge - New Publication Launch by Art Encounters Foundation
The Art Encounters Foundation is delighted to invite you to the launch of the new publication If a Story Is Present: An Attempt to Decentralize Knowledge, a collaboration between artists Yane Calovski and Hristina Ivanoska and editor Diana Marincu.
The launch is scheduled for November 1st, 2024, at 17:00 at La Două Bufnițe Bookstore.
Participation is free, and no registration is required. Diana Marincu will moderate the book launch, which will be attended by Yane Calovski, Hristina Ivanoska, Maria Orosan-Telea, and the artists involved in the 2022 exhibition project.
This book offers a fresh approach to contemporary art, viewing it as a fluid, open form of knowledge. It stems from Calovski and Ivanoska's 2022 exhibition at the Art Encounters Foundation under the same title. It explores the theory of Open Form, presenting an engaging, non-hierarchical perspective on art.
“Yane and Hristina’s works are like a 'user’s manual' for what art can become: a tool for knowledge with vast potential for everyone. Their art amplifies and challenges by offering a perspective that penetrates even the most opaque areas of history and the present,” said Diana Marincu.
“As artists, this publication feels like the crowning moment of a collaboration that has been meaningful to us in many ways.
Perhaps the most rewarding aspect was mentoring the incredibly talented and generous group of emerging artists from Timișoara. We also want to thank Diana Marincu for her vision, curatorial concept, and editing of this volume. We hope it will spark continued dialogue and collaboration in the future.” said Yane Calovski and Hristina Ivanoska.
Co-edited by the artists and the curator, the book includes contributions from theorist Anders Kreuger and Lect.Univ.Dr. Maria Orosan-Telea, along with emerging voices from the mentorship program: Loredana Ilie, Andreea Ioniță, Ana Kun, Bogdan Matei, Teo Papadopol, Gavril Pop, Ioana Terheș, and Mihai Toth. The book’s structure weaves together art and education, highlighting the complex relationship between artistic creation and pedagogical innovation.
