The Eagles of Čaga (Romania, Slovakia, 2022)
In a village in Transylvania, locals of different ages and occupations play football for the 5th division team, Vulturul Čaga. It is the lowest-ranked team in all of Romania: the last season ended with 30 losses in 30 matches, and the new year did not start any better, with a 2-17 defeat. The team keeps losing match after match, but Nelu, the club's manager, doesn't give up. After every loss, he starts over again, because his passion for football gives him a sense of purpose in life.
The film manages to evoke with fine humor the everyday realities of rural life in the Transylvanian Plain.
