Kunsthalle Bega presents the sculpture exhibition Trying to Move Without a Push by artist Andrei Arion at Kunsthalle Bega Box, with the opening taking place on Friday, June 21, at 19:00.
Arion’s sculpture has the ability to convey. It carries ideas and concepts, through a terminal, to an unknown destination. The presence of objects in transit, which appears useless yet aspires to functionality, assists the artist in defining his workspace. Arion introduces the scale of the sculpture between its intended purpose and its ultimate, yet unknown, destination. The shape is digitally designed, cut, hand-sanded, and assembled. The space is touched, traversed, inhabited, and crossed as if through a Gate.
Trying to Move Without a Push, after a Brief discussion between Andrei Arion and Bogdan Rața
Andrei Arion conceived and produced Trying to Move Without a Push specifically for the Box space at Kunsthalle Bega, through a theoretical collaboration with sculptor Bogdan Rața, co-founder of the space. Arion views his artworks as tools, each of them being created with a specific purpose. One of the defining characteristics of his works is the use of corners and sharp edges. These elements give the objects a tangible sense of awareness, making them stand out and draw attention towards the space. They are meant to enhance viewer engagement, drawing them into the world Arion has created and challenging them to transcend the purpose behind each piece.
Andrei Arion works with sculpture, installations, drawing. His inspirations range from games to daily observations of surroundings. These influences help create a unique atmosphere that shape his work. He started his artistic practice by converting boxes into wall pieces, distorting familiar objects into unusable ones.
The exhibition will serve as the venue and source of inspiration for various creative workshops with students from middle schools in Timișoara and Timiș County.
The exhibition is aimed at all audiences.
Visitors with disabilities who wish to visit the Trying to Move Without a Push exhibition, can use the access lift to the first floor of the building.
