“Timișoara: Free City, Free Spirit“ | Berlin

The Timișoara 2023 Association - European Capital of Culture and the "Titu Maiorescu" Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin support the Romanian participation in the 10th edition of the "My Unique Jazz" Festival, represented by the VanDerCris Quintet, which will perform a jazz concert on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 22:00 (Romanian time) at Kunstfabrik Schlot.

The event, initiated and organized annually by the EUNIC Cultural Institutes Network in Berlin, is in partnership with the Timișoara 2023 Association - European Capital of Culture.

The "My Unique Jazz" Festival results from a fruitful international collaboration between the EUNIC clusters and the countries they represent, hosting artists from over 20 countries each year.

Moreover, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 17:00 (Romanian time) at the ICR Berlin headquarters, there will be an open discussion on the topic "Timișoara European Capital", moderated by the ICR Berlin director, Cristian Niculescu. The main aim of the event is to inform the cultural community in Berlin about the details of the Timișoara program - European Capital of Culture in 2023, to connect Romanian artists with cultural networks in Germany, facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences, and to provide Berlin journalists with the necessary information to promote the cultural program of Timișoara 2023.

The VanDerCris Quintet consists of artists Horea Crișovan (guitar), winner of the Excellence Award for his entire career at the Banat Jazz Awards 2017, Lucian Nagy (percussion), Marcelle Poaty Souami (keyboard), Dănuț Blaga (double bass), and Florin Cvașa (drums).

The events occur within the priority cultural program Communication of the Timișoara Program - European Capital of Culture 2023, funded by the Ministry of Culture.
