This month, as part of the "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture" Cultural Program, two calls - opportunities for artistic and creative expression for artists, videographers, and multimedia installation creators - are open. Thus, the calls "Timișoara Altfel" (Different Timișoara) and "Timișoara Incognito" are available to artists and content creators, with the submission deadline being October 31, 2023.
For participants in "A Different Timișoara", the challenge is to develop a multimedia installation concept that starts from the given theme and describes the idea creatively. Selection will be based on three essential criteria, including artistic vision, coherence of the concept, and its integration into the given theme.
The 5 selected projects will have the opportunity to implement their project and contribute to the cultural landscape of Timișoara uniquely, and each winning concept will be awarded 1,000 euros; the estimated budget for the implementation of each project is 10,000 euros.
The second call, "Timișoara Incognito - Free from Stereotypes" returns this year with a videography contest dedicated to all film lovers. Through this contest, participants are invited to express their creativity and capture the beauty and authenticity of Timișoara. The three thematic sections within the contest are:
- Urban Exploration - you are free to film the streets' dynamism, emotion, and vibe.
- Cultural Enthusiasm - capture the effervescence of the cultural program.
- Architectural Heritage - explore the local heritage from new perspectives.
The jury is composed of specialists in the field, with Florin Iepan, Bogdan Mustatea, and Ovidiu Roteliuc evaluating each work and offering three prizes for each place as follows: third prize worth 100 euros, second prize worth 200 euros, and the first prize worth 300 euros. Also, the best films will promote Timișoara online and be included in a virtual album on the official pages of the Timișoara 2023 program.
