The German Cultural Center was established in 2002 as part of the Romanian-German Cultural Society in Timișoara, being a non-profit organization. The missions of the Cultural Center are the promotion of the German language and culture, the transmission of a current image of Germany as well as the support of Romanian-German cultural ties, by organizing various cultural events (exhibitions, readings, concerts, etc.), through the German language courses accredited by the Goethe-Institute and, at the same time, through a rich selection of books from the Center's library. Through its activities, it addresses the general public, be it children, teenagers, adults or seniors, who are interested in experiencing a part of German cultural life in Timișoara.

Since 2009, the Center has been collaborating intensively with the Goethe-Institute in Bucharest and enjoyed the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, through the same institute, in order to implement the cultural projects.

By the nature of its activities, the German Cultural Center maintains and cultivates for over twenty years close collaborative relationships with numerous cultural and educational institutions, with local, national and international private organizations, as well as with organizations in the economic, political and social fields. The German Cultural Center is always present in the cultural landscape of Timisoara through high-quality events and through innovative and far-reaching projects, contributing to the multicultural diversity of the city.
