Danube Destinies

Inspired by the Danube Women Stories Book, in June we want to discover the women who have influenced the Danube region over the centuries through the site-specific interactive theatre event "Danube Destinies". And with them our lives. Countless women from different places fought for the same causes and found a common voice, despite each speaking a different language. The differences made by these women spread along the course of the Danube and brought changes throughout Central Europe.

Just as the Danube flows into the Black Sea after crossing several countries, the stories of Danube women from 6 countries will find their way to the Cultural Capital 2023, Timișoara, where their commitment and achievements will be recognized and appreciated. Their common voice reflects how the multicultural realities of the area have generated, over the years, a common voice that has spoken to later generations about progress, tolerance, well-being, stability.

The site-specific interactive theatrical event held in the public space and foyer of the German Theatre, together with the exhibition "Danube Women Stories" is intertwined with the city's present. Participants discover the space the historical female stories that this diverse city hides. The event is organized in collaboration with the Cultural Reference for the Danube Area next to the Central Museum of the Danube Swabians from Ulm.
