The project "NEO-ARH - Imprints of the neo-Romanian style in the European Capital of Culture" consists in the preparation and organization of an event with several components in the city of Timisoara, an event intended to draw the attention of the general public on the neo-Romanian architectural style, one of the most outstanding architectural creations of national art and a valid symbol of cultural unity in the context of the Great Union of 1918. This architectural style can be noted in the case of some representative buildings of cultural and administrative interest in Timișoara. The project wishes to contribute to highlighting and exploring the relationship between people, space and the communities in which they live.
The first component of the NEO-ARH project consists in the preparation and organization of a photo exhibition that will take place in an emblematic neo-Romanian building in Timișoara and will include images of the main neo-Romanian style buildings in the city. The exhibition will be available for visits for a period of 10 days. The second component of the project consists in producing a documentary that includes the historical and artistic overview the most representative neo-Romanian style buildings in Timișoara, interviews with relevant personalities and with the current owners/managers of the buildings. The third component consists in editing a bilingual thematic catalogue that will centralize the most important information regarding the presence of the neo-Romanian style in Timișoara. On the occasion of the opening of the photo exhibition, the audience has the possibility to attend the premiere of the documentary film and a debate between specialists in the field of art theory and architecture, the director of the film, cultural personalities at the local and national level, as well as other guests relevant to the subject matter, students, visitors. During the 10 days of the exhibition, free guided tours of the main neo-Romanian-style buildings in Timișoara will be organized with the help of a team of volunteers.
Acest proiect face parte din Programul cultural național „Timișoara – Capitală Europeană a Culturii în anul 2023” și este finanțat prin programul Grow Timișoara 2023, derulat de Centrul de Proiecte al Municipiului Timișoara, cu sume alocate de la bugetul de stat, prin bugetul Ministerului Culturii.
