Sunlight Theatre - Performative Dialogues II is a manifesto project dedicated to the reconstruction and growth of the Timisoara theatre school by connecting it to European and national contexts, while also fostering the development of various audience categories through a fresh cultural offer.
Sunlight Theatre, a festival of theatre and performing arts made by young people, for young people, but also for the entire community, this year presents theatre performances in both conventional and unconventional spaces, as well as in public spaces.
Additionally, training young people passionate about theatre (students or high schoolers) through mentorship provided by established actors, directors, and scenographers is a component that reflects the project's forward-looking approach, aiming towards the sustainable development of Timisoara and Romanian theatre.
Sunlight Theatre, now in its 5th edition, has over the years brought more than 25 performances, provided training opportunities for at least 300 young people from Timisoara, across the country, and abroad, and has laid the foundation for collaborations with theatre schools both nationally and internationally.
Between October 18 and 30, 2024, in Timisoara, the International Theatre Festival "Sunlight Theatre: Performative Dialogues II" opens its doors to celebrate the art of theatre in a truly unique way.
This year's edition, organized by the Artmedia Cultural Foundation in collaboration with the Faculty of Music and Theatre at the West University of Timisoara, brings into the spotlight future great creators and performers of the theatre world. We're talking about young students and graduates who, through their passion, transform the stage into a living space pulsing with creative energy.
