Alex Moldovan was born in 1977 in Cluj, where he still lives. He studied philosophy, has a master's degree in theories of modern art, but also worked as a bookseller before becoming a translator. He holds creative writing workshops and if he finishes at least a tenth of the books he's working on he'll consider himself a contended man.

He debuted in 2016 with "Olguța şi un bunic de milioane", a series that continues with "Olguța și Operațiunea Jaguarul" (2020) and "Olguța și marea demascare". His most recent book is "Casa", a dystopian YA novel, published by YoungArt Publishing. Meanwhile, he also wrote "Băiețelul care se putea mușca de nas". The short story "O poveste fără niciun fel de morală" appeared in the 7 th grade Romanian Language Manual by Art Klet Publishing House. He has published in the magazines Fabulafia and Ordinul Povestitorilor and in the anthologies "Uite cine vorbește", "Cel mai mult și mai mult" and "Selfie". He was part of the jury of the Arthur Trophy and participated in the Creative Camp "Locuiește în poveste".

In 2021, he debuted as a playwright at the Arcadia Theater in Oradea, with a dramatization of "Băiețelul care se putea mușca de nas". This year he wrote a dramatic adaptation of the first volume in the series with Olguța, which was staged by MINIReactor in Cluj.
