Places available: 15, of which 8 places are reserved for the Ukrainian community in Timisoara.
Registration by e-mail at [email protected] until September 6.
The workshop is for young people over 16 years old.
On September 7, artist Mimi Ciora invites young people from Timișoara and Ukraine to a FANZINE making workshop: "Whispers in the Dark".
The workshop is part of the program "What's up with contemporary art?", initiated by Rezidența9, which aims to bring young audiences closer to recent artistic practices and narratives. Aimed specifically at young people, "What's up with contemporary art?" creates an interactive cultural experience and contributes to the formation of a new, courageous, reflective and critically alert public.
Mimi Ciora will explore with the young participants their sense of fear, fears, anxieties and where they come from, the discussion starting from the exhibition of war photography currently on display at HEI.
The results of the discussion will be translated into the pages of a fanzine.
A fanzine is an independent publication, usually produced in a limited number of copies, which gives creators the freedom to express themselves in a personal and unconventional way. Fanzines are often produced by hand, using various printing, collage, drawing or handwriting techniques. They can tackle any theme, often reflecting the passions and concerns of those who create them. Over time, fanzines have become a powerful medium for communication and creative exploration, a place where ideas and emotions can be shared in an intimate and honest way.
Workshop details
"Whispers in the Dark" is a creative workshop in which we will explore fear - a deeply human emotion that can be triggered by a variety of experiences and contexts. The workshop is a safe space for introspection and expression where we discuss what we fear, our innermost fears and how we can transform them into art.
Participants will be invited to write a short creative writing exercise that reflects their personal fears. To aid the writing process, we begin with some interactive exercises designed to open discussion and inspire reflection. Each text will then be accompanied by an image created by the participants, be it an illustration, drawing, collage or any other form of visual expression that resonates with the theme.
The results of this workshop will be gathered in a collective fanzine, an artistic document that will capture the emotions and thoughts of the participants, offering a creative and personal response to the topic of fear.
Rezidența9 is a cultural center in Bucharest, coordinated by Fundația9, founded by BRD - Groupe Société Générale and strategic partner of EUNIC Romania within HEI.
