Energy exchange! will mean for Răzvan Florescu the possibility to materialize the idea/project of his first music album with the title Sketches, a term that, for the artist, summarizes the heterogeneous nature of the musical experiences he has gone through in recent years. The album will be a complex exploration of the various influences and directions he has taken in his musical career. The scholarship will be the opportunity to obtain high-quality audio material, essential to the realization of his artistic vision. The album sums up a collection of sketches of things, people or moments that had a significant impact on his artistic and personal development.
Sketches represent the preliminary outlining of ideas, the drawing of initial-helpful lines and their merging with complementary drawings, solid musical techniques and a baggage of personal experiences from which resulted an experimental composition, interpreted in a classical formula. "My inspiration in choosing the composition of the musical project is the Modern Jazz Quartet, the band led by Milt Jackson, one of the most famous vibraphonists in the world, which is made up of: piano, double bass, drums and vibraphone. My compositional process does not follow a specific template, most of the time the initial musical motif of each work is different, for example: one musical idea started from a predominantly rhythmic double bass line, another piece started with a harmonic pedal played on the piano and continued with a vibraphone monologue", declares Răzvan Florescu.
Within the project he proposed, Răzvan Florescu intends to pay tribute to musical personalities who have deeply influenced him, such as Avishai Cohen through the song East Lydian and Bobby Hutcherson with the song Hutch. Răzvan Florescu's works include an analysis of the music of reference artists, a reinterpretation in a personal key, a new and exciting perspective. Răzvan Florescu will explore personal themes and concepts, such as the piece Tabasco, inspired by his cat named Tabasco. The piece will be an exercise in expressing emotions and feelings, but also transposing her character through music. The album will include works such as Anticipation, a standard jazz exercise that will synthesize how he assimilated the language of jazz music (Bebop) of the 1950s and 1960s, or Roundtrip that will emulate the routes he traveled across the country for concerts and masterclass, thus reflecting the experiences and adventures of his professional life.
