Bogdan Sărătean was born in Sibiu. He started studying Philosophy at Babes Bolyai B University, then went on to study Acting, then Theater Direction at UNATC. In 2004, he debuted as an actor on the stage of the Radu Stanca Theater in Sibiu (his hometown, where he also lived the European Cultural Capital since 2007). In 2009, in Sibiu, together with a group of teenagers, he founded the BIS Association (an NGO with a cultural profile, which for some years has simply signed its productions, Bis Teatru). In 2011, he organized the first edition of the 25 hours of non-stop theater Festival (a concept inspired by the period of student theater and friendship with Thespis from Timisoara). In 2023, the 13th edition of this festival also took place in Timișoara. Together with the BIS Teatru team, he produces shows and takes care of a community hub (BIS Garden).
As a director, he staged shows at state theaters (Teatrul Radu Stanca Sibiu/Teatrul Satiricus Chișinău/Teatrul I. D. Sîrbu Petroșani), but also with the team from BIS Teatru. Most of the time, he writes the texts of the shows he puts on stage together with the actors or specifically for them. This is how shows like: "Born in '90", "Moved from us", "Born in 2000", "Seasons", "100 minutes of freedom" were born. He gave Shakespeare workshops at the Folkwang University in Essen with students from: Germany, USA, China, Palestine. Between 2011 and 2023, he directed over 50 reading performances at the Sibiu International Theater Festival. He taught for 13 years at the high school, and then at the university (ULBS). In 2020 he left the education system. In 2019, he published the essay volume "In search of the lost theater" at the Astra Museum Publishing House.
