Alexandru Macrinici benefited, in the spring of this year, from a training internship within the Contrasens Cultural Association, where he began an artistic research on the topic of cultural accessibility of people from vulnerable groups, the degree of inclusion of people with disabilities in the cultural life of Timisoara, more chosen in the context of the year 2023 in which Timișoara was the European Capital of Culture. Analyzing several accessible events, Alexandru Macrinici's conclusion would be that the arrangement of spaces is not enough, it is very important to ensure the transport to and from the event - if it is complicated to get there, then don't leave the house. Efforts for accessibility are a first step, Alexandru Macrinici believes, and the second step would be for people with disabilities to appear on stage, to be included in creative processes, productions, cultural events.

Within the Energie! Scholarship, Alexandru Macrinici will have a period of artistic research and creative workshop, followed by a public discussion. Using documentary theater techniques, he will meet disabled people with whom he will conduct interviews, as well as other activities with disabled people. Alexandru Macrinici will participate in the activities carried out by the relevant associations and institutions (Avem Ceva de Spus, Asociatia Handicapatilatilor Locomotori, Constantin Pufan School Center for Inclusive Education, etc.), aiming for as close contact as possible with different disabled people from Timișoara. The research will also have a creative workshop component - dramatic writing, to which interviewees will be invited both during October and March. The aim of the workshop is to develop autobiographical monologues, but also to help participants learn public speaking techniques, learn and reduce the stress of public speaking. Workshop participants will have the option to read or have the text read to them during the public discussion.

This project is part of the national cultural program "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and was funded through Energie! Burse de Creație grant by the City of Timisoara, through the Center for Projects.
