Begegnungen / Întâlniri / Encounters: Ingo Glass

Organized one year after the artist's passing, the exhibition presents a selection of works from Ingo Glass's oeuvre, providing a synthetic perspective on his body of work. Starting with a few earlier pieces considered as reference points for his later creations, the exhibition constructs an extensive discourse of concrete art that began around 1985 and continued throughout his life. The entire presentation revolves around the concept of primary shapes and colors, to which the artist dedicated himself.

Ingo Glass's sculptures were distinguished, particularly through his skillful and adept manipulation of the interplay between solidity and emptiness, working with primary geometric elements and incorporating voids into compositions through sculptural cutouts. Consequently, he frequently engaged in this interplay between positive and negative aspects, prompting a contemplation of sculptural mass and its relationship with absence. (Ileana Pintilie)

The opening event will be attended by Mrs. Ursula Glass, the artist's wife.

The exhibition will remain open until October 7, 2023. Visiting hours are Wednesday to Sunday, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM (wed- thur), and from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (fri – sun).

This project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in the year 2023" and is funded by the City of Timișoara, through the Center for Projects.
