Closing Ceremony of the All Schools Should Be Art Schools Project

On Friday, November 8th, we will hold the closing ceremony for the All Schools Should Be Art Schools project. The ceremony will include a presentation of results from the architectural practice of FAUT students (coordinated by architect Bogdan Isopescu), showcases of projects implemented in classrooms, and a small awards ceremony recognizing the efforts of all participants.

The project aimed to introduce kindergarten and primary school teachers from various schools in Timișoara to diverse methods and practices for teaching the arts to children in early education. Alongside promoting the pedagogical concept of the learning environment, the project emphasized the importance of arts education in the public school system, bringing together examples, case studies, and current pedagogical content tested and tailored to today’s students' needs.

Through this arts-specific toolkit, the project aimed to foster new pedagogical practices, emphasizing contemporary learning processes and playful, physical, and spatial contexts. These methodologies encourage new ways of studying and learning together. The project’s title draws from the work All Schools Should Be Art Schools—an artistic manifesto by Patrick Brill from 2016, intended to highlight the decline of arts in the national curriculum and emphasize that the arts are a human right.

The event will close with a viewing and discussion of visual results from the latest Minitremu Art Camp #9, held in partnership with the Timișoara High School of Arts, followed by a visit to the opening of the exhibition Portrait of the Artist as a Teacher at Pygmalion Gallery, Casa Artelor in Timișoara, by invitation of Delia Popa & Nita Mocanu (ART ROSA).

All Schools Should Be Art Schools is a project proposed by Minitremu and Brigita Onaca, in collaboration with Babel School and High School—the first experiential learning school in Romania, General School No. 2 Timișoara, General School No. 6 Timișoara, Avram Iancu Gymnasium School No. 19 Timișoara, and Kindergarten with Extended Program No. 23 Timișoara.
