„Timisoara. December 1989” and debate: "DECEMBER '89: THE ROAD TO EUROPE"

To mark the commemoration of the Timisoara Revolution as part of the special closing programme of Timisoara - European Capital of Culture, the West University of Timisoara and the Project Centre invite viewers to the screening of the film "Timisoara: December 1989″, directed by Ovidiu Bose Paștină, followed by a debate between Cătălin Ranco Pițu, Corneliu Vaida, Geanina Jugănaru and David Secoșan, moderated by Vasile Popovici.

"Timisoara: December 1989″, directed by Ovidiu Bose Paștina (1h 18min), is the first documentary about the Timisoara Revolution, made in early 1990 and produced by Sahia Film. The film won the Grand Prize at the Dokumentar Neubrandemburg festival in Germany and was shown at the Berlin and Munich film festivals, and was selected as one of the world's best documentaries at the Yamagata Festival in Japan.

The screening will be followed by a dialogue entitled "December '89: The Road to Europe" with: Vasile Popovici - writer, university professor and diplomat, Cătălin Ranco Pițu - former chief military prosecutor at the Military Prosecutor's Office, Corneliu Vaida - participant in the Revolution since 16 December 1989, Geanina Jugănaru - daughter of Dumitru Jugănaru, killed on 17 December on Calea Girocului, David Secoșan - 12th grade student at C.D. Loga High School.

The event is part of the national cultural programme "Timisoara - European Capital of Culture 2023" and is funded by the Inside Timisoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Timisoara City Project Centre, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
