10:00 - 11:30 - Visions for the city: culture-led urban transformation and policy-making

For Timișoara, the European Capital of Culture title meant looking at the city within a European context. It opened a dialogue with other cities and with the principles shared in the European cultural and urban agendas. The National Cultural programme „Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023” generated debates and led to a new understanding of the urbanism of the future. It provoked important areas of reflection and it provided content to imagine new answers to strategic policy questions, such as what is the city (and the society) we want to live in and what role does culture play in shaping it.
