As of 2006, the Timișoara National Museum of Art has been hosted by the Baroque Palace as an independent institution, managing collections of European Fine Arts, decorative, Banat, Romanian modern, and contemporary art, as well as Corneliu Baba’s works. In 2020, the institution received the status of a national museum, thus confirming the value of these collections.

The Museum plays a central role in the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture by hosting the Victor Brauner and Constantin Brâncuși event exhibitions, organized in partnership with prestigious European museums such as Centre Georges Pompidou or Tate Gallery, as well as with important national organizations such as the Art Encounters Foundation and the French Institute in Romania.
