Movement Art is a movement course focused on tracing the connections between body and being, emotions and sensations, breath and movement, imagination and action, with the aim of developing an authentic and harmonious relationship with one's own body through movement.
The course will take place on 27-28 May at the Youth House (Casa Tineretului) and will be coordinated by Ștefan Crainic and Alexandra Gîrbean. The two will alternately guide participants through technical and creative exercises towards an open, playful and alert state. Their practices are complementary, offering diverse and complex tools to activate dynamic, elastic, plastic and creative movement.

About the course
The body itself is a fascinating world, in which physicality, thought, emotions and sensations intertwine and influence in a constant interaction with the environment. The pathways between thought, action, emotion and sensation are always being renewed, depending on the experiences we have. Through movement we can create new pathways and develop our creativity, power of observation and change.
We will work with creative elements of locomotion, from falling to flying, discovering the bodies of animals, monkeys, fish, felines, or reptiles. We will explore elasticity, musicality, rhythm, compression, explosion and dynamics. We will visit all these concepts together - in interaction - in challenge - and in harmony with each other.
Through improvisation or following clear patterns, we will learn to move freely, developing better coordination, strength and flexibility, engaging creatively in our practice.
BIO
Born in Romania, having a background in music, competitive swimming and capoeira, Ștefan Crainic was always passionate about the human body. He stud- ied medicine for 5 years before he decided to engage completely in movement education. He has a great wealth of experience in teaching movement across a variety of disciplines: from dance to martial arts, acrobatics and athletics. He is a teacher inspired by Fighting Monkey practice and in the last years he is traveling and sharing his passion and knowledge with people around the world.
Alexandra Gîrbea explores the world of dance, movement and performance art from diverse perspectives, permanently nourished by existential questions and a constant inquiry of the mind. Her trajectory in dance is marked by the study of martial arts (aikido, taichi, wushu, capoeira) and somatic practices (Feldenkrais, Body Mind Centering, Alexander Technique). Her practice was formed through exploring diverse dance techniques (contemporary, classical, indian, and folk dance) and sports. Alexandra studied Communication and Public Relations, Performing Arts MA (Universite Libre de Bruxelles) and dance techniques at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy. In the past years she has been an independent artist, creating her artistic and educational projects in the field of contemporary dance, collaborating with people from diverse artistic and educational fields. At present, Alexandra is studying in Brussels to become an official practitioner in the Feldenkrais Method.
