Through the project What Art Does. Urban and Emotional Junctions, the Salonul de proiecte Association aims to foster a type of artistic investigation which is essential for understanding and navigating the contemporary context. A series of workshops with gymnasium and high-school pupils from Timișoara are inspired by the artistic and pedagogical practice of Mircea Nicolae. The workshops set out to explore three thematic strands: the significance of the city’s spaces of transition for its social articulation; the active relationship with the city through messages inscribed in the public space, revealing the imprint of subjectivity; the creative use of found and abandoned objects, offering an alternative to today’s rampant consumerism and unprecedented waste. In addition to these workshops, a bilingual publication will present all the stages of Mircea Nicolae’s trajectory, analyzing his artistic output while looking closely at his work process.
