Taifas I Balkan Film and Culture Festival is an initiative based on the collaboration and co-production of two organizations dedicated to art film, Balkan film par excellence, Contrasens and Bad Unicorn. Coalesced around ambitious goals such as increasing public access to art film as a method of knowledge, integrating diverse communities in the proposed activities and developing the professional capacity of new generations of filmmakers. Developed around two programmes of education through and for culture developed by Contrasens 2022-2025: CINED 2.1 (funded by the EU through the Media-Creative Europe programme) and stART CINEMA! (funded by the PNRR) dedicated to children from culturally disadvantaged areas to access Cinema.
The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the European Echoes Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
