Culture is the capital at the West University program, proposed by the West University of Timisoara Foundation, which will transform Timisoara in 2023 into a vibrant city, open to reflection and critical thinking, both for locals and visitors, through the power of culture to inspire attitudes and mobilise actions that inspire, highlighting the inner light of people.
This project is a powerful tool for social cohesion, collective participation, intergenerational relationship, conviviality, and change from daily habits and forgotten dreams to collective joys and fears.
Culture means reflection, debate, dialogue, research, and the West University of Timisoara Foundation proposes a complex, interdisciplinary, interactive program that will boost and diversify the way we generate ideas, produce knowledge, debate in public, reflect, and find specific solutions to local community problems and beyond.
Culture is the capital at the West University program builds bridges between the academic community and society, between the apparently inaccessible language of science and art, between the challenges of the local community and the potential of research centres, between artists, intellectuals, researchers, students, and the rest of the community, by organising a series of events (dialogues, debates, conferences, artist talks) that will aim at the way a community relates to the past and the future through cohesion.
In the context of Timisoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture, Timisoara will be more than a frame for artistic events but also a space that develops critical attitudes and crystallises a voice whose echoes will reverberate locally and abroad.
